Are You a Heartbreaker on the Online Singles and Dating Sites?

At some point, you will be the heart breaker in a relationship and if you are into online singles and dating sites, you may have to do this by email. Remember how it feels to be rejected or told that you are not compatible with someone that you are interested in online or offline. One good word of advice that has helped many a soul here – make it definite and make it clear.

Don’t say you just want to be friends, because that is probably not a realistic picture of your future with this guy/gal. Do you really want to remain friends while you are dating others after the hurt has passed? If you can, then great. But most of the time a clean break is what is needed. Be kind but be direct. It is kinder in the long run not to play games or to lead someone on that you are interested in them when you are not. The sooner you tell them, the better. You can both get on with your dating lives knowing the truth about your relationship.

If they want to know why you are breaking their heart, tell them honestly but with kindness. If you have only known them online for a few days, perhaps the most appropriate response would be that after interacting online, you just don’t think that you are both compatible. Cushion the blow with the strengths that you have noticed. If they get angry, you are better off without them in your life anyway and you can go to sleep with a clean conscience.
